The “I have nothing to hide so go ahead and search me” Attitude

Declaring that you have no worries about being arbitrarily searched and surveilled because you have nothing to hide is an incomprehensibly naive and submissive attitude for an American to have.

“I’m being good, Master. I’m doing what you say. Please don’t beat me.”

Where did these wimpy, docile people come to adopt this idea? Was it taught in Public (ie government) schools? Can you say ‘brainwashing’?

It is an attitude that is dangerously trusting of the powerdrunk control freaks that write and enforce our laws… 40,000 new ones each and every year. There are so many vague and micromanaging “laws” that you cannot exist one day in this country without breaking dozens of them. And this compliant and submissive attitude fails to consider that however ‘benevolent’ you regard your government to be today, what it might become in the future may be something else entirely. Perhaps they’ll decide to apply vague interpretations of the law to harass and fine people they don’t like. Ever think of that? What’s worse is the subservient citizen attitude merely emboldens the powerdrunk control freaks even more.

I regard myself as a free man, not a serf merely granted permission to exist by the government or the will of some mob (aka democracy).

Perhaps whenever some servile ward promotes this idea that “you have nothing to worry about if you are not breaking the law” I shall respond…

“The government has nothing to worry about until they have reasonable suspicion. Now, unless you can get some evidence and present it to a judge and get him to issue a warrant… fuck off!”
